What is a glycol peeling?
- When they talk about chemical peeling with fruit acids, they mainly mean glycolic acid. The purpose of any peel is to remove epidermal cells. They serve as triggers for active regeneration, i.e. the formation of new cells and the renewal of the skin. Fruit acids (AHA) work exactly according to this principle.
- However, glycolic acid has a number of properties that distinguish it from its counterparts. This explains its popularity.
- Small size of molecules. This makes it easier to penetrate the skin and act faster.
- By peeling epidermal cells, glycolic acid indirectly affects the deep layer of the skin and stimulates the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid. Hence the regenerating effect of wrinkle reduction and thickening of the skin.
- In fact, it makes the surface layer of the skin thinner, and the deepest – denser. As a result, we have a double anti-aging effect, as wrinkles are smoothed from the outside and "pushed" from the inside.
- With age, cell renewal slows down and glycolic acid can speed up the process.
